Delicious chips. Who doesn’t have a favorite chip? I know I love them, these Stove Top Salt & Vinegar Potato Chips are life-changing. Not only are they really simple they are not from a bag and don’t have anything processed in them… YUM!
A chip you can feel good about dare I say?
While these chips are “Deep fried” on stove top they are deep-fried in sunflower oil making them a little better of a choice if you ask me! I am not the biggest chip fan but for having them at a BBQ or on the side of a hot dog or hamburger these chips are perfect. If your kids enjoy a chip every now and again these would be a better choice as well!
Salt & Vinegar Potato Chips
- 7-8 medium potatoes
- sunflower oil (for frying)
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp vinegar
Wash potatoes and slice on thinnest mandolin setting (1).
2.Pat dry with paper towel.
3. Fill your pot with sunflower oil about halfway full and insert a thermometer.
4. Heat oil to 350 and very slowly and carefully add slices one at a time.
5. Cook for about 2-3 minutes flipping with a slotted spoon.
6. Remove and drain excess oil in a strainer or in a bowl lined with paper towel
7. Toss with your flavour of choice (salt and vinegar to taste for this recipe)
You also don’t have to top these chips with salt and vinegar. It’s just a huge favorite in my house you can easily do BBQ, Dill Pickle or even Ketchup – also a huge favorite in our house!
Fun Fact: You can’t buy ketchup chips in the USA! So, making your own will give you the chance to either try them or enjoy them again at home (how many of you have had a friend smuggle you some across the border?)Can’t use sunflower oil for whatever reason? Here is a list of other oils that will work just as great:
- Avocado Oil
- Vegetable Oil
- Coconut Oil
- Rice Bran Oil
- Peanut Oil
- Palm Oil
- Olive Oil
You can really use just about any oil you’d like. It’s all about making the choice, and I try to go as healthy as possible when it comes to deep frying, I’ve tried many different oils with this recipe and have grown to love Sunflower Oil the best.
